My grandfather Melvin C Moore was born on Staten Island 11/18/1892 to John William Moore brn 11/1863 and Harriet Totten Butler brn 8/1865. My greatgrandfather was Alfred Moore brn 10/1836 and Mary J Laforge brn 6/1841. They lived in the Westfield(Tottenville) area. Any info on the families would help.

My ggGrandmother Mary Anne LaForge was born in Perth Amboy, NJ, March 5 1810. She married William Rees and lived in Keokuk, IA. William and Mary Anne had 14 children. Mary Anne's obituary in 1891 names a brother, William LaForge, living in Staten Island, NY, and a sister, Mrs. Turner, of Elizabeth, NY. I am descended from Samuel Rees, the son of William and Mary Anne, and know the whereabouts of all of Samuel's descendents, but do not know much about what happened to the rest of the family. I have an Eleanor Dunn LaForge (aka Ellen) b. 10/6/1821 d. 11/21/1906 - parents are Benjamin LaForge b. 2/3/1789 d. 11/3/1861 and Abigail Totten b. 10/23/1794 d. 10/3/1877. She married David A Joline b.2/28/1821 d. 1/19/1895 all are from Tottenville and buried in the Moravian Cemetery in New Dorp. David is my GGG Grandfather.
