Woo Hoo - Oh happy day!

A million Thanks!!!!!!!!

Where did you find records for Trinity Lutheran church? I had heard they were lost in a fire.

Would you happen to know if there are any marriage or death records for Trinity. I found an obit for George that said he died in Jan 1877. I know he is buried in Trinity with his wife Christiana (Holcomb) Green according to cemetery records, but I have no death record. Of course Sand Lake and New York do not have records until 1880's. :)

I just can't thank you enough. This is a major breakthrough for me.

Blessings to you and yours,

Wendy

Also has pics of Nettie too. You'll find all kinds of family relations on your grandmother's side in that tree and Juli responded quickly to messages.

Knowing the history of the cup is great!! I do have that info on Abraham - part of what I'm using to get into the DAR. I do have some info on William Mason and then there is Samuel Howe who was his brother who fought also. You might like to trace the family through the links I've created on findagrave:

Abraham Becraft (haven't found wife Sarah Riggins yet):

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=10...

Sarah Ann Butler Whittaker (haven't found husband Joseph Henry yet though I have traced her back further too-was searching for her more in New Bedford recently):

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=89...

Enjoy - off to work but will message you directly later..
Hi, that big silver vase grandpa is holding is the cup awarded at the first America's Cup. Silas worked on it at Wallace Sterling. You probably know this, William Mason Whittaker who fought in the civil was made a captain at Winchester VA and discharged 1862. Thanks for the name of Abraham Becraft. Quite by chance, on the web, I stumbled across "New York In the Revolution as Colony and State" Vol I. under Albany County Militia 4th Regiment both Abraham Becraft and William Becroft were listed. I am technologically challenged so getting around the net is not easy for me. When it comes to grandma Nettie I dead-ended at her, could not work my way to her parents or siblings or farther back. We once had a family bible that had mention of Dudley but can't find it. Some of the info on Becroft family came from a small family bible. You probably know that Mary Jane' parents were Joseph Henry Whittaker 1809-1864 and her mother was Sarah Ann Butler 1814- 1819 born in Cambridgeport, Ma., I think. Hope I added something.Lynn Becroft Iannucci

Hi Lynn -

I have you in my tree!! I've seen a post either your brother or father James made here some time ago which helped me on my Becroft way. Have you ever seen this?

http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.becroft/1.2/mb.ashx

I even have your parent's wedding announcement that my g-gma saved! I've pulled together the info I need for the DAR too... just need to organize it a bit but I am in contact with them already. The patriot is James Henry's grandfather, Abraham Becraft.

We are cousins for sure - just too tired to figure out what number. My gg-grandmother was Emma Florence Becroft, daughter of James Henry so sister of Silas. Looks like we're two generations apart. I have a picture of your grandfather with a silver vase that was shared with me from a tree here for someone on the Dudley side.

I have a Whittaker family reunion photo from the 1930's in Durham CT that I'm trying to identify people in. Maybe you'll recognize someone... James Henry Becroft's wife was Mary Jane Whittaker.

Please message me if you are interested in connecting and sharing information as I have LOTS on this line now. Amazing to look back at when I originally wrote in 2011!! I have baptism and marriage records and even interment records for Seth and Abraham. You can find the family linked together on findagrave.com.

Judi
Is there anyone who has possession of this book that would be willing to look up information for me. My GGGGrandfather George E. Greene I believe was born to Dexter Greene and Mary Melius in Brunswick. In Dexter's Revolutionary war file he show 6 children but does not name them. In a 2003 post I see that they list some of Dexter and Mary's children - one of them being my grandfather. Dexter was married in 1798 or so. George was born 1800 or 1801, I would love to get information about Geo e and his siblings.
Gratefully yours, Wendy

My grandfather Silas Becroft was the son of James Henry Becroft of New York and Wallingford CT. James was a carpenter and constructed Theater stages in New York. My grandfather was a silver smith and considered amongst the best in the country and once worked on a silver bowl for the royal family of Great Britain. James also designed several buildings in Wallingford. Hope that this was helpful. Lynn Becroft Iannucci

Is this information still viable? I am looking for a family member who (according only to family story) was sent to Hillside somewhere around 1912-1915. Do you have any idea of how far the records go back? It was always believed that he died shortly after going to Hillside (he couldn't have been more than 5 or 6). Does anyone know where orphans were buried? Were they returned to the family or were they buried in a potter's grave? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Esther Ann Clark Rockefeller (1827-1877)

I'm looking for any help regarding my third great grandmother, Esther Ann Clark (1827-1877). Esther was born (allegedly) in Kinderhook, NY in 1827. In November 1847 she married Jonas Rockefeller in Schodack, NY. They had 4 children: Spencer (1849-1925); Ardella (1851-1931); Herbert (1854-1885) and Charles (1858-1944). I've searched for years about Esther's parentage and about two years ago, I came across an obituary for Tharina Clark Atwell which mentioned my great, great grandmother, Ardella as her niece, so I was happy to finally be able to find a sibling for Esther. Tharina was born in Kinderhook in 1841 and moved to Schenectady around 1855. I was able to obtain her death certificate and her parents were listed as Ralph Clark and Catherine Hare. The obit also mentioned another niece, Ella Clark Rockefeller Haynes (1867-1951) and through some more research I discovered Ella was the daughter of Annis B Clark and Stephen Rockefeller. That said, Annis was born in 1827. Could she have been Esther's twin? They both have different birth dates or one could be a baptismal date instead of actual birth date. I found all census records for Esther and it doesn't seem that any family members lived next door to her. She is buried in Vale Cemetery, Schenectady and Catherine is buried next to her. Tharina is a row or two in front of Esther. I cannot find Tharina in any 1850 census to find out more about "Ralph" Clark. It's known or thought to be known that he probably died between 1850 and 1855 as Catherine is widowed on her census records from 1860 on. I did find a Catherine Hare married to a William R Clark and was wondering if the "R" was for Ralph and maybe that's what he went by? Also, Spencer (Esthr and Jonas' son) was baptized Spencer Alpheus Rockefeller. Was Ralph a nickname for Alpheus? I keep coming up with dead ends as to the true parentage of Esther and was hoping someone could either point me in the right direction or if there is someone who has this family in their tree. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I am seeking advice on how to go about getting birth parents of an adoption that took place in Troy NY in 1939. The person that was adopted is now deceased, but her daughters are very interested in their genealogy. Where are certain adoption records kept. Can they be looked at by the daughters of the deceased. Any advice on where to begin for these girls would be greatly appreciated.
