Surnames: Davenport, Snook, Snouck
One of my ancestors, John W. Davenport married a Mary Snook. They lived in Putnam, New York. John was born in was born in 1779 and was the GG-grandson of "Captain Thomas 'The Pioneer' Davenport". I don't know who Mary Snooks ancestors were. I do know that there were "Snoucks" who lived in the surrounding area, i.e. Fishkill. The children of John and Mary are listed in the will of a John - or James - Snouck from from Fishkill. The children are listed as nieces and nephews. In another document John Snouck is listed as the son of a Matthew Snouck. I have nothing solid to establish exact relationships. Would that mean that John Snouck and Mary Snook are brother and sister and that Matthew is the father of both? Can someone help me with Snook/Snouck?
