John Snouck

This is all of the info that I found.

in New York prior to 1880 all vital records were initiated & filed in the Town Clerk's offices. They are rarely found anywhere else.

Also Tax, Land/Deed and Probate records provide good information. Check FamilySearch, Catalog for these non-indexed records.

Also historical books about the area list families who lived in the area. Try looking for books at Google Books, Ex Libris, FamilySearch, etc.

Almost every town in New York has their own historical society. That's another resource. Successful Searching!
