I found a record for one of their other sons, Egbert (I saw him in your tree), as follows:

3 Apr 1866
Egbert R STORY to Fannie BLAIR
Burlington

From "Marriages from Aug. 19, 1853 - Dec. 30, 1875. Taken from the Otsego Herald & Western Advertiser and Freeman's Journal, Vol. III, Compiled by Gertrude A Barber, 1932"

Have you tried the Old Fulton NY Post Cards site at http://www.fultonhistory.com/fulton.html? It's difficult to search, but if you click on the FAQ_Help_Index box in the upper-right of the screen, there are instructions. I tried the query [(William Story) OR (Wm Story) AND Burlington] (don't enter the brackets, DO enter the parentheses, and select Boolean) - there are over 100 results.

Good luck, and happy searching!

Nancy

Death of Lorin B. Lewis, 1930-1940

Lorin B. Lewis is on the Morris, Otsego, New York census in 1930. He was living alone but had been married to Sarah Jane nee McDonald. They were married Feb 15, 1900 in Irvington-on-Hudson. His date of birth ranges all the way from 1864-1872 depending on which census you look at. His father was Bradley F. Lewis whom he was living with in 1905 and 1910 along with his wife Sarah and daughter Ethel who must be from a previous relationship as she was born abt 1895.
Anyway, I don't find him in 1940 so thinking he died between 1930 and 1940. Can anyone find his death and/or his obituary?
Thank you for any help
Peggy

You are right in regards to the different names Toddsville has been known by. Another interesting tidbit is that in 1880, a Samuel M. Shaw succeeded in having the name changed from "Todds Ville" to "Seymour", in memory of the late Governor, Horatio Seymour. A petition was quickly drawn and the name restored to "Toddsville".

I am looking for almost the exact same things that you are, documentation of Samuel's wife and children. Have you found anything yet? I have found scatered parts so far. I have seen the 1800 census and Milford history. Per Holland land records Seth Whitmarsh bought land in Busti, NY July 1, 1819 his wife was Elizabeth I cannot prove Seth is son of Samuel. Samuel's birth is listed in book "Mayflower families through 5 generations volume 12 Francis Cooke". Findagrave.com lists Samuel Whitmarsh burried in Woodbridge Cemetery Tioga County death 1841 age 72 do you think that this is Samuel Jr.? I think that Lambert married Katurah White, Nicholas married Catharina Hotaling, and Samuel married Annatie Hotaling (Catharina and Annatie were sisters). You probably knew all of this, I am still looking. Newspaper Oneonta Herald dated 1/16/1867 says "died At Oneonta, January 11th, Catharine Whitmarsh, aged 105 years last May, wife of Nicholas Whitmarsh who died about 40 years ago."

There was a Baldwin farm next door to the farm that was in my family in Sanborn county, near Woonsocket, SD. The farm in my family was owned by a Cross family for a time and later by the Jones'(1910). I know the two families (Baldin and Cross) were friends, or maybe even relatives. George Cross married second to my g-grandmother who was a Dawson and had previously been married to a Washburn. The Washburns lived in Otsego county NY in early 1800s. My branch moved to IN about 1850 and later to IA (Story, Jasper and Hamilton counties) before coming to SD(Hutchinson, Turner Yankton counties). I just thought I would write because these associated names is pretty interesting. My Washburn line has been very difficult to research because of illness in the family, etc. The Washburn family link to the Mayflower and I can not find documentation for a couple of generations, mainly because they sometimes traveled by covered wagon and did not have very established farms/homes. I trace every conceivably possible link.

My name is Robert Baldwin and have been performing genealogical research on the Baldwin family for over 40 years. Many people have used my information without crediting my work. (Much is private verse public domain) Anyhow, I am Robert Stevenson was my first cousin of whom I was named after (much to my father's chagrin). Dad was 51 when I was born, and I'm a mere 59 this year. Florence was my aunt which my father adored. (my oldest surviving sister had the exaxt name, Florence Irene Baldwin) And, Leslie, of coarse was my uncle by marriage. I have a whole lot of data that I did not give to Judy...It is for the taking for close relatives now. Give me a shout if you are interested.
