In the name of God Amen, I Gordon MERCHANT of the town of West Monroe in the County of Oswego and State of New York being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make ordain publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to say
First: After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged I give and bequeath to my son Reuben MERCHANT the sum of Eight Hundred Dollars and also to my son Cyrenus MERCHANT Six Hundred Dollars. Also to my son Aretus MERCHANT the sum of Five Hundred Dollar. And to my son Abram MERCHANT Five Hundred Dollars and to my sons William and James MERCHANT each the sum of Four Hundred Dollars.
Second: I give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughters Ellen and Jane MERCHANT Daughters of Aretus MERCHANT each one bed and bedding.
Third I give and bequeath all my household Furniture to my three sons, Aretus, Reuben, and Cyrenus MERCHANT to be divided equally among them.
Fourth: I give and bequeath all the residue of my property real or personal if any there shall remain of any name or nature and wheresoever it may be among my four sons Abram Aretus, Reuben and Cyrenus MERCHANT to be divided equally among or between them.
Likewise I make constitute and appoint my Nephew Henry MERCHANT and my son Aretus MERCHANT of the Town of West Monroe Oswego County and State of New York to be executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the Twenty Seventh day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Nine.

The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Gordon MERCHANT in our presence and acknowledged by him to each of us and he at the same time declared the above instrument so subscribed to be his last Will and Testament. And we at his request have signed our names as witnesses hereto and written opposite our names our respective places of residence.
