I just started researching this line and according to other family researchers, Gamaliel Bancroft was my 4th g.grandfather.

Yesterday another family researcher told me the line of descendancy going back as far as they know of here in the US goes like this. I would check with Genealogy.com Message Boards, where they have a Bancroft family board.

Thomas b. abt 1625 England m. #1Hannah Gardiner and #2 Lucy.
Nathaniel b. 1683 m. Ruth Haile
John b. 1731 m. Mabel Medortha
John b. 1755 m. Lucy Fairman (another researcher has Farman)
Gamaliel m. Mathilda
My line goes from Gamaliel down through David Bancroft, brother to your John Titus. So we're cousins.
