Looking for relatives of Gouvenier M. RAINEY b c 1834/5 who may be in the Orange County area. Looking for parents and siblings of Gouveneir. I've seen many variations of the spelling of his first name as well as surname.

He married Frances J. DEAN b 1843 and they had four children, Frank M. b 1873; Harry G. b 1875; Nellie J. b. 1877 and May b 1879, the first three in NYC and not sure about May's birth place. The family was in Otsego Co in 1880 census with Gouveneir listed as a portrait painter.

There's a Thomas OLIVER who is an uncle to the children, but not sure of which relation he is to Gouveneir or Frances. His records show born to Scottish parents on voyage to US. He lived in Dehli with Nellie RAINEY and was older by about 15 years.

Also looking for Joseph G. WELLS, wife, Harriet EMERSON who immigrated from England about 1890 with family. They had 3 known children, Ernie and Tom ended up in Syracuse, NY in the early 1900's and daughter, Priscilla married Harry RAINEY, son of Gouvenier.

Have also found in NYC a Gouveneir RAINEY with wife Cornelia and son John in 1860 census which possibly may be our Gouveneir with a first wife. This Gouveneir was born 1830.
