I am looking for information on the origins of Van Renssaler LOWE of Victor, Ontario Co., New York. I have information from Raymond G. Barber's publication <A History of The Barbers of Java Village, New York> that he married Jerusha BARBER 7 Jul 1846 in Java, New York, and that he was born 26 Nov 1816 in Victor. Judging by the time of his birth and his given name, I suspect his father may have served in the New York militia in the War of 1812. Also it is family tradition that either he or his father changed the spelling of the family name from LOW to LOWE.
