Hello, I'm desparately seeking an elusive Great-Grandfather, John C. HANLEY, possibly John Calvin HANLEY born approximately 1842 and most certainly from Ireland. I have found his name on two separate death certificates of his son, William E. HANLEY, and a daughter Julia (HANLEY) LONG. Both certificates were found in Canandaigua City Clerks office in Ontario County NY and in Geneva. John's wife was either Catherine (MADDEN) or Katherine (MADDEN) and was born around 1844. Catherine I believe was born in Canada, and her father was John MADDEN, b.1822 in Ireland. Her mother was Ann FINNAN, b. 1824 also in Ireland. Both John MADDEN and Ann MADDEN are listed as buried in Canandaigua and I am currently working with St. Mary's Church for records in Calvary Cemetery to find their graves. John C. HANLEY seems not to have records in any census 1850-1870 here in the archives. Simply elusive! Any help given would be appreciated, and I'm more than willing to share additional family records.
