The NYS Dept of Health Vital Records fiche start about 1881 or so. I say 'or so' because many Cities, Towns & Villages didn't send their records to NYS until about 1900. So its hit and miss between 1881 - 1900. ***This is not in a book form, its individual microfiche, several per year. The 3 ring notebooks are "finding aids" to assist you in requesting the correct Fiche from the Librarians.

The date you want information from is much too early for any Vital Statistic Record maintained at the NYS level and I think also at the Town, City & Village level (which frequently is a few years prior to NYS's 1881 start date.)
Looking at the Newspapers that someone included in their reply, I think its too early for that as well.
My only other suggestion is Church Records or possibly records of a Judge/Justice of the Peace, but locating them might be nearly impossible. some Churches might surprise you... and hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones with an original Church with its own records.
Good luck!
