I am searching for my g g g grandfather Rev. James Erwin, Methodist Episcopal preacher, don't know exact birth, but do know that my g g grandmother, Amanda Elizabeth Erwin, was born in Tennessee, and that her father was James Erwin, a Methodist preacher in Tennessee.

Here's what I have:
I'm looking for James Erwin, the father of my great grandmother Amanda Elizabeth Erwin (b. 1830 in Tennessee, d. 1896 in Texas)

This is all I have of Amanda Erwin who married Lewis Preston Lively (also a Methodist Preacher):

"His wife, who bore the maiden name of Amanda Erwin, is the daughter of Rev. James Erwin of Tennessee who was also a minister of the Gospel, belonging to the Methodist Episcopal denomination."

Daughter was Mary E. (b. 1856) Lively lived in Wills Point, Texas and married Vernon Twiggs McChesney.

The problem with connecting to her parents is that before 1850, children were not listed on the census, and she got married before 1850. So to link her with her parents would take 1. death record and there isn't one. 2. Birth record which there isn't one. 3. A will or probate. 4. A land transaction. 5. A family Bible.

Do you think this is James Erwin, Methodist preacher from Tennessee b. about 1800 in your line?
