17th Ward NYC, 1860 REINHARDT puzzle

Classification: Query
Surnames: REINHARDT SCHUESSLER, SEMPLERSON
George REINHARDT & wife Elizabeth SCHUESSLER, both b Germany early 1800s, met and married in late 1840's somewhere in NY state. Their 4 sons John Joseph, J. Charles, Peter and Jacob, were born there, approx.1847 - 1856? Then they moved to WI, where daughter Louise was born in 1857. We have never found them in the 1850 NY census, and can't begin on NY church records, until we have a NY location.

Sometimes people are recorded in more than one location for the same census year, so I rechecked 1860 for NY state, even though in 1860 we found them in Fond du Lac Co WI, Empire township, with all 5 children.

My puzzle: there is a family that may somehow be the same people, even though not all the children are with them. In 1860: New York City: 3rd District, 17th Ward, page 2, Dwelling # 3, living with 1 other family [see below]:
Line 8) George REINHARDT, 34, Male, Cabinet Maker, personal estate 2000, b. Saxony G
9) Elizabeth, 39, Female, b. Saxony G.
10) Louis, 6, Male, b NY, attended school within the year
11) Peter, 4, Female, b NY
[Only other family in house: Line 5) George SEMPLERSON 32, Varnisher, b Bav.;
6) wf Catherine 35 b Bav;
7) dau Elizabeth 7 mos. b NY]
No idea if the SEMPLERSONs are related to George or Elizabeth. Clear handwriting; most adults on the page were born in German countries / states such as Berlin, or Baden, followed by a "G" for Germany.

OK, so we have no records of a son named Louis, and our Peter was not a female! A stretch, but could this be the same family, 2 or 3 sons already sent on ahead to WI to stay with relatives?

Anyone know anything about the 17th Ward of NYCity, such as which Catholic churches would be in this area in 1845 - 1860?
Thanks for any suggestions,
Barb G.
