I just connected my family line to the Dunckle family living in Canajoharie, Montgomery county from the early 1700's until at least the late 1800's...Johann Franz Dunckle was my 6x great grandfather...but until today, I had never heard of this family or of my connection to them.
I have found some information on ancestry.com...census records, marriage records and some other miscellaneous stuff...but I don't have anything else that I can rely on with certainty to ensure that I am not making mistakes in my records. Records are great but I would like to know who mthis family was, how they lived and perhaps even why they came to America...
I can see that this family lived in Canajoharie for a very long time and I am hoping that there may be a book or some records from this town or county that details this family's life and times...do I have any chance??? If there isn't anything like this, can anyone tell me the best way to obtain records from Canajoharie??? Again, I am hoping there might be a historical society or a library with a kind person or two who might be able to help me figure out what records might be available to me to help me figure out who the Dunckle's were and how they lived.
Thank you for your help!!!
Susan
