Seeking information on the children of one Samuel Maurice DeYoung, and his wife, Helen Louisa Hart. The couple were residents of Rochester and met as students at Galludet University for the deft in NYC. In 1873 they renewed their friendship and were married.
They were the parents of 2 sons and five daughters. One son died in infancy and Maurice, died after contracting an illness while serving in the Spanish American War. of the five daughters, of which I only known two, Gertrude, had a daughter Louise, and Pearl Henrietta DeYoung,the youngest, married a man named Byrnes and had a son John Herbert Jack." Pearl was widowed young and in 1918 she married James Winfield Scott Garland and had an additional two children; Rosemary Louisa and James W.S. Garland, Jr. Jack was adopted by her second husband.
A niece, Evelyn, was married to a man named Matthew Gassner, and had a son, Matthew Gassner, Jr., All were residents of Rochester, New York.
