JAMES MARSHEL, age 53, laborer, born in Ireland
SARAH, wife?, age 53, born in Ireland
JAMES, son?, age 27, blacksmith, born in Ireland
MARGARET, daughter?, age 18, born in Ireland
JANE, daughter?, age 16, born in Ireland
WM, son?, age 13, born in Ireland

(This is definitely my family, all moved to
Illinois by 1853 except possibly the daughter Jane who either married and whose married name I don't know or died probably in
New York or on the way to
Illinois. There is no sign of her ever being in
Illinois)

MATHEW MARSHAL, age 24, laborer, born in Ireland
JAMES MARSHAL, age 26, laborer, born in Ireland
ROBERT MARSHAL, age 19, laborer, born in Ireland
Robert and James appear to fit my family. Mathew may have been a brother I know nothing about.
James was supposed to have become a blacksmith or maybe he was a blacksmith while still in Northern Ireland (unknown); he was supposed to have married a Mary
Kean and they lived and died in
New York. Anything you can find about them would be wonderful - I've given you all I know.
If you could find anything about Mathew, it would be great. I have nothing.
The
Gibson family came from
Livingston County,
New York (Caldonia) and there may still be some of them living there. There was as late as the mid-1900s. One of the Marshall daughters (Ann) had married a David
Gibson in Northern Ireland and they stayed there. It was their children (William, David, and James) that came to
Livingston County. I think other sons went to
Massachusetts and maybe Canada when they came over.
