My gr gr grandparents were Henry Frank WESCOT and Eliza CORNUE who were married 21 Nov 1849 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Canajoharie, Montgomery Co., NY, and who were in the 1855 state census in Montgomery Co., NY I think they are the H. Franklin & Eliza Wescott in Sullivan, Madison Co., NY in 1850 (married within the year). Any information regarding parentage of both would be greatly appreciated. By 1860 they were in Chicago NY where Henry worked for the Galena & Chicago Rail Road. He served in the Florida Indian Wars in Florida, and he was a Captain in the 51st Illinois in the Civil War. By 1870, the family moved to Gadsden, Etowah Co., AL. Eliza died there in 1874 and Henry remarried. From 1879-1899, H.F. WESCOT traveled to "San Francisco and other places" according to his obituary and he returned to Gadsden AL and died there in 1899. He was in Denver, CO, temporarily in 1880. Supposedly there is a connection with the SCHYLER family of NY and families involved in the dairy business.
