This looks like it is no longer a Kings, NY issue, but I do want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. I mean that. I’ve been at this for many years, but I still get stuck and I’m still often unsure of my next move. You guys have helped IMMENSELY.
Catherine, thank you again for the 1875 census. It’s looking really strong. I see them in the 1880 federal census no longer in Albany, but living in South Amboy, NJ. It still lists William as living with them, even though I have him on his own in Albany in the same census, but all the other kids are there and the ages are consistent. The child named Elsworth really sells it for me. Not at all a common name. By 1900, I still see a lot of that family intact. John and Mary have aged appropriately. Jane is now Jeanne, but the age is consistent. Elsworth is now Elma, but the age is right. Clara is still Clara and again the age is right. Young Mary E is now Stella, but if the E stands for Estelle, that would fit. Now here is something that really interests me. In 1900, they are living in Jersey City, the same town that William’s second wife was from, which could explain how they met. Plus if I can confirm this, then I have a host of new info that they started including in 1900.
