At one point I made a chart to show how many sources said he was born in New York and how many in New Jersey. The number of New Yorks just edged out the New Jerseys, but that death cert really made me wonder. Of course I always remind myself that in the case of death certificates, the person who for sure knew the correct details was NOT the one answering the questions.

I will definitely look into St Patrick's. I've often had problems locating church records. Took almost a year to find records in Albany because the original church closed and passed their records to the new church. Then the new church closed and passed the combined records to the next one. VERY confusing.
