I'm soliciting any observations that might help to clarify the geo-political boundaries reflected in the 1875 New York State, Kings County Census. (

It was my understanding (evidently wrong) that the district boundaries utilized for the census were comprised of "election districts" (as opposed to "enumeration districts") which were (I believe) generally re-aligned each fall by the NY State Legislature.
As the census was taken in June 1875, the "election districts" so designated for that time frame in 1875 would likely have been those designated by the legislature in the fall of 1874. From the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Saturday, September 26, 1874 (
http://eagle.brooklynpubliclibrary.org/Default/Scripting/Art... ), the Tenth Ward (of particular interest to me) is divided into seven (7) "election districts" yet the census data reflects ten (10) "E.D.'s".
It seems clear that something other than "election districts" must have been used for this census but I've been unable to discover a source that specifies or defines the "E.D.'s" utilized.
Any thoughts/sourcing appreciated.
