I have been looking for the parents of my GGGrandfather William Henry Curtis - he is my Brick Wall. He lived in the Town of Alexandria.

I live out of state and during a research trip I visited the County Clerk in Watertown and could not find any deed for any property he purchased.

There is a copy of an 1850 Jefferson County Map on Jefferson County GenWeb and he is listed on that as Henry Curtiss.

I looked over the US Census for 1840 and 1850 and the 1850 NYS Census and he is listed there but there is no reference to where this property is located.

How do you find out what the location of the property? There is no listing for name of the road. The neighbors change also from Census to Census.

I had thought if I could find out the name of the owner of this property, I might get a clue.
Any help is appreciated.
