I just came across a newspaper article from November 14, 1905 in the Herkimer Citizen about a DAR Historian named Grace Pierce who was looking for information on some of the families of Mohawk Valley, including my lineage of Jacob Widrig and his wife Elizabeth Rinckle (Wrankle). In it she references an old story about Elizabeth Wrankle and her mother, Catherine, being kidnapped by Indians who released Elizabeth after a short while but kept Catherine for three years. I've never come across this story in any of my research.

Is anyone familiar with this story or how I might be able to find out more?

I'm attaching the article hoping this might spark a conversation on here about this story as a whole. Thanks for your time!
