Thanks for your reply. I have now found all I need on my Oldswager kin. My grandfather is a brother to a lady who married into the Van Wormer family and I have been in contact with her descendants. Thanks, tho. Always glad to hear from people - no matter when the delay is. Have a great day. Pauli

Many years ago, Ryan D. Wood who apparently has done lots of research on the Batchelder family came forward advising me that he had information on my ancestor, Nancy Batchelder, who married Rev. C.B. Waller. She was born April 26, 1814 in Leroy, Genesee Co., NY.

I have been able to locate Ryan, but unfortunately he's had some life changes that make it next to impossible for him to access this data any longer.

Has anyone worked with him or know anyone that is familiar with his work. I desperately want to find Nancy's ancestry.

Thank you for your help.

Yes the diary, what has survived, is in the National Congress of American Indians Archives in Washington D.C.

Franklyn/Franklin "Elwatum" Bearce(? there are few spellings of this surname to same family line); in 1920'S or 30's submitted documents to Congress, for the opportunity that the Schagticoke Nation might be given Federal Status. Congress denied this request. In the 1950'S other "attempts" were made for such Fed. Recognition, eventually this request was honored, and the Schagticoke Reservation is in the area of Kent, CT. today.

Evidence provided ie "the diary remnants" were date analyzed, and some of the paper originated from the time(s) of the life of Zerviah Newcomb, known to have made paper, and also in a remote Parish, accounts for rude paper "of the day" owned by someone of "privilige".... this analysis in part played a key role in the reversal of the initial denial by Congress to grant this Nation "Recognition" by USA.

I am also a descendant of this Bearse line, through Simeon Gray/Grey a great, great, great-grandfather to my family. I am a member of the Oneida Nation, and of Mohican/Mun-see Nations.

hi
I responded to you last summer-just came back to this post while researching-I am the historian in Bethany - and the author of the poorhouse books - came across a link for Aaron and family at 'its all relative.info' -
you can email and let me know if you've been there or not. Do you want any further assistance? or have you already answered all your questions for the Mott family? By the way, did you know that Polly can be a nickname for the name, Mary?
Let me know if you have any further questions or are still actively researching.

Oh yes, I see now. It's kind of confusing how it's laid out on those webpages, with both of them essentially being named "Pioneer Cemetery". Anyway, it MUST be the one on Harvester Avenue, which is a far larger cemetery, and still active. I'll bet it does still have headstones. I plan a genealogy trip to Batavia in a couple months, so I could swing by and see if the headstones still exist. I want to wait until the weather is better, though ...

I'm not sure...but from the website that you listed you can click on Old Batavia Cemetery and it has a listing of many who are buried there...my Hickoxs included...and it states in parentheses that its Batavia Pioneer Cemetery. I'm thinking its the one on Harvester Ave.

I also contacted the secretary of the Batavia Cemetery Association who was able to supply me with records showing that my Hickoxs are there, but as for any headstones we aren't sure, that is what I am hoping to find.

According to http://genesee.bettysgenealogy.org/batavia.htm, this cemetery isn't accessible at all anymore, and no evidence exists that one was ever there. Here's what it says about it:

Batavia Pioneer Cemetery- the present city of Batavia pioneer cemetery was on W. Main Street back along the creek near where the old W. Main St. School was. No evidence remains that a cemetery was ever there. The following are given in Beers, Gazetteer of Genesee County as being in this old cemetery in 1890:
Buell, Richard, died 1819
Mason, Wheaton, died 1825
Wilcox, Oliver, two wives of; one died 1807 the other 1824
Stark, W. T. , died 1822

No mention of any Hickox. Are you sure you have the correct cemetery?

I am looking for someone that could possibly go out and take headstone pictures ( if they are even there) and see how many people are buried in Lot # 115.

I am researching my "Hickox" line and was sent the listing for the people buried in Lot # 115, there are 9 graves but only 5 names and was wondering if there are visually more people then what the books say. Would also love to know if there are even any headstones there. 3 of the deaths date back to 1826.

Thanks in advance!
Misty Claywell

Looking for information to prove or disprove whether this 1830 Wethersfield, Genesee County listing is George A STEWART (born ca. 1780), with his wife Abigail (MORSE) STEWART (born ca. 1790) and their son Alonzo STEWART (born ca. 1818), two as yet unknown sons (ages under 5 and 5-10), daughters Laura Emeline STEWART (born Feb, 1823), and America STEWART (born Feb, 1830).

This may be the same family found on 1820 Census in Painted Post, Steuben County, NY.

It definitely is the family in Elk Creek Twp, Erie County, PA on 1840 Census, and Huron County, OH by 1850.

Most census enumerations through the years relate New York/Pennsylvania birthplace for virtually all members of this family.

Any church records, tax records, newspaper articles, etc that can shed some light? Anything else to look at that we're missing?

I'm looking into my family history and have hit a wall on information. I am looking for information on John Blaszczyk Born 1893 in Poland Died 1959 in Batavia, Genesee, NY. He immigrated here with his brother between 1900-1915 possibly into the Michigan or New York area. He married Magdelene Bartosiak (born 1912 in New York and died 1941 and (her Parents were Joseph Bartosiak 1871 – 1957 and Mary Wojtas 1878 – 1953 also immigrated from Poland). They had 4 children (Maryann, John Charles, Stanley J, and Barbara Ann) Magelene died in childbirth with a 5th child in 1941 and she and the child were buried in St Joseph Cemetary in Batavia. I know that after her death John Charles and Stanley were placed into a Catholic orphanage for a time before he was taken in by his aunt Sophie Bartosiak. They all lived mostly in the Buffalo and Batavia New York area. Any information or ideas on directions to move forward would be a big help! Thank you for your time!

Dear Nancy,
I went to Clarence Central and am a bit older than you, Class of 1965. Do you happen to know the Ingalsbe family from Darien Lake or the Nicosia family from I think Alden. Do you know what has happened to the Erie County Home, my Great-Aunt Helen worked there for years.
Til later,
SueDee

Dear Nancy,

What is the nature of your research, needing help or lending it? My Great-Aunt Catherine Hoffman lived in Corfu from at least the late 1940's. While she had three children I am not sure if she had any grandchildren. At least two of her children (the youngest two: a girl then a boy) never married.
Are you doing the searches for family purposes? Of course, I am a little familiar with Pembroke having grown up in Clarence in the late 50's and through 1973. I now live in southwest Michigan and find it hard to find out about Corfu because I have not been there in years. I am hoping that we can be of some help to each other. If you want to exchange alternate e-mail addresses please let me know. Looking forward to getting a reply and thanking you for your contact.
Regards,
SueDee

Hello Kathy
Thank you very much for all the information you have provided for me.
I am still in the process of searching through the Fulton Newspapers but I have found about 26 items so far on Thomas & Margaret McCaughan and family including the sad deaths of their daughter and son-in-law in 1947.
I think I may have found Anna Woodside married to a JAMES W WALLACE with a son Wilson. I found this by using a hint from the "Who Do You Think You Are" show the other night. In the Ancestry search I just put in ANNA in the first name-left Surname blank-added her year of Birth-1891-Ireland-Year of Immigration-1910-New York and put in Pavilion, Genesee, New York in "Lived In" and up came James W Wallace and Anna Wallace with son J Wilson Wallace living in Baby Street, Pavilion in 1920. In 1915 they had James's father Gordon living with them. Anna had been transcribed as FRANCES. I have traced Gordon & James to County Down, Ireland in 1901. I have found their Passenger Records 1901 & 1904 and all the Census's 1910 to 1940 and a few Newspaper items for Mr & Mrs James Wallace & Wilson but none link up to the McCaughan's yet. I haven't found a Marriage for this James Wallace yet but found he was living in Pittsburgh, PA with his sister in 1910 before he went to Pavilion. ANNA WOODSIDE's mother was living in Philadelphia from 1911 (SARAH(WOODSIDE)MOONEY)so ANNA may have married over there. It looks like the Marriage would have been 1913/1914. Hopefully ANNA WALLACE is ANNA WOODSIDE.
It is pretty certain from all the information in the Newspapers that MARY DILLON was MARY McCAUGHAN before she married FRANK DILLON.
I still have to search the FindaGrave site for the Graves but I am registered on that site. I think I found a MARY DILLON on it a while ago but then I was not sure it was her.
I will let you know what else I find later on.
Thank you once again for all this information.
It is amazing what I have found in those Newspapers.

Regards

Pat

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I am not sure where exactly my relatives were born. It seems reasonable to think
Genesee or possibly Erie county for Geraldine dob 13 Mar 1909
and Dennis Henry dob 15 Dec 1922. Catherine dob was 4 Apr 1887. SueDee

I’m not related to any member of this family.

1940 is the last available census at this time.

It's not important to know which street a person live on rather it's important to know the DOB's + birthplaces for all family members...........

In the link I sent you for the Fulton Postcards, Anna Woodside was spending time with Mr & Mrs Thomas Mccaughan in 1913.

So she was still around here after 1910.

Judy

http://fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html

This site you can find many articles on Dillon family. They are in papers for Perry,Avon,& Genesee. Even Mary Dillon's death notice. She spoke often of going to visit her father Thomas Mccaughan. Now to find that marriage record in those papers.

Judy
