I’m researching marriage information for John Elliot born about 1791 and Mary Smith (b.about1788) daughter of Oliver Smith and Mary Harris. They had a family of 4 children, that, I know of:
1. Daniel, their oldest was born in 1811
2. Oliver Smith
3. Orlin b. Aug. 15th 1818, Cambria twp. Niagara County New York
4. Mary
What I would like to know is where can I write to obtain a marriage certificate? Would the County of Niagara have an archive where records are kept? I realize that in the state of New York there were a lot of changes regarding county boundaries. Would Cambrie of been in Orange, Niagara or Genesee County prior to 1810
Should I write to Albany? I would appreciate it if you could advise me. Thank you.
