One of my ancestors, Michele LaPietra, was killed in Port Henry, NY on 2 November 1910 by Gabriel Constantino. According to articles from the Ticonderoga Sentinel, the accused escaped immediately after the crime.

I'm trying to find out if there was ever any resolution to this case. Where could I find court records for this time period?

I'm trying to locate a book called the "Trimble Family Account" that supposedly contains information about the marriage of my gggrandparents performed by Chauncy Fenton in Crown Point. The Historical Society in Ticonderiga said that they turned it over to someone at the Penfield Museum but they don't seem to have it. If anyone knows where I can locate it, please let me know.

He is listed as just John but all the other family names fit. He is listed in the New Hampshire Birth Records, Early to 1900 on FamilySearch.org. "John Bishop birth; 13 Jul 1772- Chesterfield, Cheshire, New Hampshire; Parents, John Bishop, Experance."

Hello! I am researching Lorenzo D. Nichols! He first comes across the Loudoun County Virginia Tax rolls in 1831 residing with a man name Herod Thomas. I do not know if this is the same Lorenzo D. Nichols mentioned in this thread, but if it is then I am definitely intrigued! And the timeline fits (1830 losing parent) I have been UNABLE to find his parents. This Lorenzo was born in 1816 and later married Amanda M. Boyce in Missouri. If any of you have information on this Lorenzo I would LOVE to find out more!!

Am looking for death of Reuben Tupper, father of Jesse Tupper who lived in Minerva, Essex County, NY in 1830. There was a 70-80 yr. old male in the household which is probably the above named Reuben. Is there any kind of cemetery burial information other than that listed online for the Gore Cem? Sometimes when the stone is gone, there is paper record of burials. How do I find this info? The people Jesse was living with in 1850 (Chester, Warren Co. NY), Truman & Eliza Lincoln are buried there. Jesse's death/burial is also missing.

What a great find with regard to Joseph Brooks. The marriage dates and the census info don't agree but that's censuses for you. If Clara was first wed at age 20, that would be in 1908.I don't find her in 1910 although previously I thought I had. She was widow Slocum in 1915.So I thought she was married between 1910 and 1915 but widowed by 1915. Norma was born abt 1912. Then Clara is listed as Slocum in 1925 which doesn't agree with newspaper article in 1923 saying she hadn't seen husband Joseph Brooks for 5 yr.meaning married by 1918 at the latest.
this is all very interesting and I do thank you for your help.
Will pursue Joseph Brooks marriage.
Peggy

samuel not on the census-sometimes the census taker asked the neighbors for info. sometimes, when the husband "went away to look for work" and didnt come back, widowed was given instead of abandoned- it is possible that his date of death wasnt known at time of census.
arent you wondering how and why they got to Brooklyn!?!
1920 brooklyn census where margaret and clara are nurses to private families.
Addie Hart53
Margaret P Hart27
Clara Slocum29
[24]
Noma Slocum 7
1930 brooklyn census
saya clara, a nurse, was first wed at age 20. norma works for at&t as a clerk.
Clara Brooks42
Addie Hart64
Margarette Henderson38
Norma Slocum17
because she was in brooklyn, i went to www.fultonhistory.com and found in the brooklyn standard union 9 july 1923 where a clara brooks seeks disolution of her marriage to a joseph brooks who she hasnt seen or heard from in 5 yrs- your?s. a little more research may solve that puzzle.
1940 life gets complicated-still in kings county, east 23rd street-been at that address a while, addie rents the house there
Addie Hart74
Clara Brooks52 works private family
Herbert Hansly33bookkeeper listed as addies son/law
Adele Hansly33 listed as addies daughter
Robert Hansly13

the census could be bogus as the hansly family is one of many in what appears to be a large tenement house. articles re hensley family at fultonhistory do not shed light.)

I found a listing of soldiers from the Soldiers of Rebellion, buried in Essex County Cemeteries. I had been unable to find him or his wife Amelia Pettigrew Rooke buried in any Essex or Clinton County cemeteries'.. so I am excited to see if this is him and if Amelia is resting with him.. anyone know?
It would appear that Clara married a Mr. Slocum abt 1910-1912 and then a Mr. Brooks between 1925-1930. Clara is living with her mother in 1900 (where was her father Samuel, I thought dead as Addie is a widow). In 1925, Samuel reappears. As for Clara, in 1915, she is a widow with daughter Norma Slocum. In 1925, Clara Slocum is living with her parents Samuel and Addie, sister Margaret, and daughter Norma. In 1930, Clara is widowed again, this time Brooks. Must have been very short marriage. I haven't got the first name of either husband. If anyone finds either marriage, I would be grateful.
Incidently, I found Samuel's death as Nov 5, 1924 but he is on the 1925 census. ?????
Peggy

Part of that land is now in New York, part is now in Vermont, and the rest is now called Canada.. So yes, Lewis and Porters Mills/Port Henry was once part of something that is today called Canada.

Was Port Henry ever a part of Canada? There seems to be a lot of confusion in the family about whether our ancestors were born in Canada or New York, but the town is listed as Port Henry.

Hi, I saw your posting about McDougall Families dated from 2001. Our McDougalls were in Hastings, Ontario. Our grgrgrandfather was Archibald and he married Jane. He died in 1856. We think he was born in 1798 and of Scottish decent, but it is possible that he came from Ireland. Just wondering how far you are on your genealogy and I am looking to find any siblings/parents of Archibald.

Hi Kristin,

I do have information on the parents of Henry Bateman Rowley & Mary "Polly" Wilson, but the evidence in somewhat circumstantial. Based upon a deed, I am certain that Henry Bateman Rowley was the son of Thomas Rowley (known as "The Green Mountain Bard") and Lois Cass of Shoreham, Vermont, but Henry is not the same person as their son, Bateman Rowley, who was born about ten years earlier and in a different state. I also am certain that Mary Wilson was the daughter of John Wilson and Sarah "Sally" Daniels of Whiting, Vermont. I presented my evidence to Ken Stevens, who wrote the series of books on the Wilsons of New England, and based upon it, he acknowledged that Mary belonged to that family.

My ancestry comes through William Rowley & Ruby Snow. Please feel free to e-mail me at bill_hull@verizon.net

By the way, I had not seen this board since 2004, and did not know of all the other messages!!

Bill

I am looking for information about my Great Great Grandmother. Her name is Lillie(Lilly/Lillian) and was born about 1867-1871. I was told her maiden name is Pond.

She married a LaRose and had some children (William, Albert, Margaret and Rose).

She then married Charles LaBarge(1857-1925) and had six children (May Lillian, Anna, Francis, Charles, Elizabeth and Joseph). I have Census' of her living in Essex County, Port Henry, Moriah from 1910-1920. She then moved to Albany and I have that information.

I would like to find her parents' names, confirm her maiden name, the name of her first husband and where she was born (US or Canada - Census' all say US, but family says Canada).

The LaBarge and Pond lines really stop here for us. I would like any information carrying the LaBarge line back as well. Thanks for any help. ~kelly

According to "Military Records" (Ancestry.com) Asa Nichols died in captivity April 23, 1813. He had sercved as a Pvt. in the Infantry under Capt. Joseph Bliss and also in the 21st Infantry under Capt. C. Proctor. He was held in captivity and died as a "Prisoner of War". Asa married Lorena Reynolds, daughter of John Reynolds of Shoreham, Vt.
Only Roswell Nichols could possibly be a child since the others were born after Asa's death in 1813.
Lorena m. (2) John Cram. Lorena and serveral of her Nichols' children removed to Southern Michigan where Lorena deceased.
Why not check 1860 census for the names you cite in Michigan? Four of their children were born in the 1790,s and one in 1800. The yougest is said born in 1810 which is likely. ANY would have been old enough to have children listed independently in the 1850 census.
