Looking for death information for gr-gr-grandmother Elizabeth (Sucher) Koehler, found at age 73 in the 1892 Census living with dau. Madelin (Lena) & husband Henry Horst in Buffalo - but not in 1900 Census. Believe the Horsts moved from Rochester to Buffalo 1876-77 living on Coit St. & Elizabeth joined them a year or two after the death of husband in 1887. I've followed the Horsts through the 1910 census (ages 75 & 66)& then lose them. Any help is appreciated.

My friend is looking for the name of his grandparents. His father passed away earlier this year and he knows nothing about his dad's side of the family.

I'm looking for the parents of John Faso, born October 27, 1921.

My friend believes his dad was born in Buffalo and this his grandparents are from Italy. He said that he thinks the family name was also Lofaso.

I've been unsuccessful in my ancestry searches. I think I may have found him in the 1930 census, living in an orphanage in Buffalo, so that didn't give me parents' names
My Bridget Collins married John Breen Buffalo, NY in 1889 at St. Brigid's RC (later Sts. Brigid and Columba, located Eagle & Hickory - now burned out) Baptismal sponsors (same church) for three of their children: Mayme (1890 - Timothy Collins, Thomas (1894 - Johanna Collins), Catherine (1896 - Michael O'Connor & Anna Collins). Thomas was my Grandpa. He had a younger brother named Timothy but I was unable to locate a baptismal for him.

Bridget's parents are listed as Thomas Collins and Marie Stuart. Both John and Bridget died in 1912 within 3 weeks of each other so family history on the Collins branch has been lost.

Hello Justin, Santa, (and Mimi!)

I was just doing a search for GNP,III and came across your recent posting here. I'm excited to let you know that I have done extensive research on the DAY line of this family (with MUCH help from Mimi Taylor).

Justin... my interest is VERY peeked regarding Louise's bible. Is there any chance that she has the family births, marriages, and deaths recorded in it? I have been struggling with a few family members of Moses Day and hope the Louise recorded them in her bible. If so, are you able to scan them?

I have put together a website for the entire DAY family, including every descendant of Moses Day and his two wives. I'm currently building a pedigree chart to show every one of them. I can email this to you as a PDF if you'd like to see it. Please email me at glenn@crom-a-boo.com .

If I may ask... are you related to the Esberg branch?

I hope to hear back from you soon. I have plenty of questions regarding some of the Pierces I need information for!

All my best to you all~
Glenn

It sounds to like your brother was a friend of his growing up.

I have checked Erie County and they don't have much. My father served with Francis in the Army during WWII and told me that on the day he disappeared, Francis was making his way back to the company command post from an engagement in the Hurtgen Forest, Germany. He never made it back and no one knew what had happened to him. Francis was in the 2nd platoon of Company K, 311th Infantry, 78th Division.

His remains were discovered in the Hurtgen Forest in 1976 and returned to the US for burial near his home town. The Germans erected a monument in the forest to mark the location that he and three other missing soldiers were found. I created an entry for him on Find-A-Grave in Elm Lawn in Erie Co., NY and placed there the only picture I have of him.

I look forward to reading the article and seeing a different and perhaps a better picture of him. Please regain your health as the first priority and thank you.

Regards,

Jim Cooper
He came from Germany in 1862 with father Fred, mom Dorthea and siblings Fritz and Minna (maybe Wilhelmina?). They settled in Buffalo on Hickory St. Wm m Louisa and their daughter Louisa W married Arthur McPherson (they had dau Violet). There is also supposed to be a connection to my great-grandma, Maria Wilamina Fredricka Frank Gerber. Any information would be appreciated.
Donna in Idaho

You could start by Googling "Newstead NY Historical Society".
Take a look at the write-up for the Rich-Twinn Octagon House
at 145 Main Street, Akron. (It appears that it could be open from 1-3 on the 18th of October). Personally, I love the Grosvenor Room of the Central Library in downtown Buffalo for research. There are Erie County marriages from 1877 to 1935. NY birth, marriage and death dates on microfiche from about 1880 to 1959, census records (both state and Federal), newspapers on microfilm, church records and more.
Wishing you "Ancestors Galore"!
scs61@juno.com

St. Joseph's Orphan Asylum - Buffalo, NY

Does anyone know if records are available for St. Joseph's Orphan Asylum? I keep hitting dead ends with regard to my great grandfather, George Henry Bennett who was born in Buffalo in May 1887 and died in Buffalo around 1923. I know he remained there with his wife Ida (nee Bauer) but finding them is rather difficult. I found in the 1900 census records a George Bennett born in May 1887 and I'm wondering if it's him. Any help would be great!
