I am researching the Merlau family of Wales, NY (Erie Co.) and have been getting conflicting information. The three people at the heart of the confusion are Philip Merlau, George Merlau, and Christina Merlau. George's dates are 1843-1927. He married Francis Falk on Aug 4, 1870. I BELIEVE that Philip and Christina were his parents, but some sources say Christina was a second wife of George and others say that George, Philip & Christina were siblings.

My great grandmother was Helen Merlau, married to Frederick Tackbary. Her birth date would probably be in the 1870's (her son, Clayton was born 1898) and she was born in Wales, Erie Co. Family tradition has it that her father was named
Philip, which would imply that the above George was her uncle.

If anyone has information on the Merlau family of Wales I'd really appreciate it.
