I am looking for the parents of my gg grandfather,
Lyman Kenyon /
Kinyon / Kinion. My search has led me to
Wales,
Erie County,
New York. While it is unclear whether the answer lies here, I would sure like to uncover all the clues to either make that connection or rule it out. Any information or suggestions are appreciated. Here is what I currently have:
*The 1830 Census shows a
Truman Kinyon, age 60-69, living in
Wales,
New York. (I would love to know more about this guy - where he came from, family, etc.)
*The 1830 Census shows an Arnold
Kinyon, age 30-39, living in Holland,
Erie County. (Earlier, the 1820 Census shows an Arnold
Kinyon living in Holland,
Niagara County, just before is was
Erie County),
New York. The 1850 Census shows an Arnold
Kinyon (indexed as Rinyon)living in
Preble Cortland County,
New York (page 315, line 17). He is listed as 60, born in CT with wife, Mary, 58, born VT, with William 15 NY, Rebecca 18 NY.
*The 1830 Census shows an
Asa B. Kinyon (incorrectly indexed as Hinyon), age 20-29, living in
Hamburg,
Erie Co.,
New York.
*A Hannah
Kinyon born May 23, 1821,
Wales, NY, married to Charles
Gillette, in
Wales, NY. They moved to Berrien County,
Michigan. Hannah died 9 Mar 1911, buried in Silverbrook Cemetery,
Berrien,
Michigan. (I am currently trying to find out the identity of her parents, having sent for a copy of her death certificate.) Information about her existence and marriage to Charles, comes from two different
Gillette family book sources: First,
Gillette families (Gillet-Gillett-Gillette) : including some of the descendants of the immigrants Jonathan
Gillet and Nathan
Gillet ... also all of the descendants of Barton
Ezra Gillet, a descendant of Jonathan the immigrant 1800-1955
Publisher: unknown; Second,
Gillette and allied families : genealogical and biographical, Publisher: The Society. Both these sources are accessible on Heritage
Quest.
I am interested in any additional information for the above people, such as dates of birth, death, burials, marriage records, existence of wills, obituaries, places of residence, names of children, etc. Also, if you are aware of any additional
Kinyon or
Kenyon individuals or families specifically living in the towns of
Aurora (town from which
Wales and Holland were taken),
Wales, Holland, or generally residing in pre-1850 Erie and Niagara Counties, I am interested in learning about them.
Thank you for your consideration.
Marilyn
Kenyon Source: The foregoing information largely comes from Richard
Reid Kenyon, PhD. (He noted the census records for all the individuals named and more importantly, the incorrect indexing of the
Kinyon names, which came from his extensive research of the census records for
Kenyon records names.)
Thank you for this Richard R. Kenyon, Ph.D.
