I'm following your thinking- if you can find out where the child was baptized, you should find where the parents were married.
In the article that I wrote entitled "
German Protestant
Churches of
Buffalo Before 1900" (WNYGS Journal, Vol.XIX, No.4, March 1993) I listed all the various
German denominations (Lutherans of all 3 synods- N.Y. Ministerium,
Buffalo Synod, and
Missouri Synod,
German Evangelical Synod,
German Methodists,
German Baptists, etc.)
Unfortunately, I can find no
Pastor Miller or
Mueller or Müller during the 1872 period.
Now, let me ask you a few questions.
How do you know that it was
Miller who performed the baptism?
If you have a certificate, can it be one that was made out later, perhaps for the purpose of confirmation or marriage and signed by
Miller at that time? Is it dated? Does the certificate have a seal on it? (The seal usually includes the name of the church.)
I've also checked the 1870 city directory, the closest I have to your baptism, and there is no minister under the name of
Miller or
Mueller. There are several
Pastor Millers later in the 1800s.
