MOUNT AIRY - Mr. James Carl Graunke, 59, of 716 Hale St., Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 14, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Mr. Graunke was born Sept. 23, 1948, in Kenmore, N.Y., to the late Carl and Florence Thormann Graunke.

He was employed by Renfro Corp. and Bassett Furniture and attended Haymore Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Graunke was preceded in death by his eldest sister, Jean Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Ramsey Graunke of the home; three children and a daughter-in-law, Katherine Graunke of the home, Matthew Graunke of the home and Jonathan and Justine Ramsey of Buffalo, NY; a grandson, Jonathan Ramsey Jr. of Buffalo; a niece and her husband, Barbara and Ron Garrison of New Carrollton, Md.; and a sister.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church Prayer Garden, with the Rev. Robert McCrary and Margaret Rosche officiating. The family will receive friends after the celebration of life in the fellowship hall of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5950 Fairview Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28210. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Graunke family.
