I have located what I believe is my Massey family living in Fishkill in 1850: Stephen Massey, age 30; his wife Margaret, age 32; and a daughter, Minerva age 5. By 1860 Stephen and Margaret are living in New Jersey, Minerva is not listed with the family group, and there is a son named Stephen who is four years old. While the 1850 census indicates that both Stephen and Margaret were born in New York, other records from 1860 forward suggest that they were born in England. What churches existed in Fishkill prior to 1850, particularly denominations other than Reformed? What other records should I consider for this time period that might help me learn more about this family? Thanks for any help you can provide.
