I don't know if you are still looking for this information, I live in Pleasant Valley. Salt Point is a small hamlet of PV. It was named Salt Point because there was a railroad that ran through it. Cows were moved from upsate to the Market on this line. The trains stopped in Salt Point for the cows/steers to be watered. They were fed salt to make them drink more which increased their weight. They could be sold for a higher price. Pretty sneaky!!
