Mary Jane Hogeboom, b: 1830, in Kinderhook, NY. Mary Jane was Black, even thou the other Hogebooms were White, and prominent.
Mary Jane married in 1858, to Charles H. Whitford, a Black solider of the famed 54th Regiment of Massachusetts, of the Civil War.
