My Lamphere line begins with ABIGAIL Lamphere, b.abt. 1800 in New York State. It is speculated that she was b.in Claverack, Columbia Co.NY, but I have no proof.
She md. George "Jurry" Haner abt. 1833, and they both died in East Worcester (prob.), Otsego Co., NY, he in 1847, she in 1868. George was bapt. 6/30/1770 in Claverack, Columbia Co., NY

Question is, who were Abigail's parents? Could Luther/Latham or Samuel be her father? Which leads to the next question - Who was THEIR father?
On the Columbia Co. NY Censuses, there are:
1790 - Hillsdale Twp.
Joshua LEMPHEAR (said to have d.1798)
Luther LEMPHEAR

1800 - Chatham Twp.
Samuel LAMPHIRE
- Hillsdale Twp.
LATHAM LAMPHIRE (same as Luther in 1790)

1810 - Chatham Twp.
Samuel
- Hillsdale Twp.
Samuel LAMBERT
Latham LAMFIER

1820 - Hillsdale Twp.
Latham LAMFIER

Does anyone have any further info on these men and their children? I have seen some tentative info linking the 1790 Joshua and Luther as sons of Rowean/Rowland Lanphear and Elizabeth Parmetter, BUT the Columbia County men's dates of birth are way too early to be sons of this Rowland. Their date ranges, from the censuses - Samuel (bef. 1765), Latham/Luther (bef. 1755) and Joshua (bef. 1774), would seem to make them contemporaries of Rowland, rather than sons.
Any tidbit to investigate would be immensely helpful!

I am trying to find information regarding Latham Lamphere/Lamphier/Lanphere of Scriba, NY

He was born around 1783 and died in Scriba, NY in 1863. He had a son James Harvey Lanphier who is my great great grandfather.

You can find the will dated 30 May 1797 of Joshua Lamphere 7 and proved 31 Jan 1798 at[Note the transcriber has the date of 1792 but in the will extracts done by William A. D. Eardeley the date is 1797:

I think the Samuel you mentioned may be my Lamphier. I just found out he was born in Columbia co and so was his wife Sobrina Oakley. He was born Jan 10, 1978. If this is him then Joshua and Anne were his parents. Do you have anymore info on Samuel. Thank you. Nina
