I am looking for the origins of a George Shirts who came from this area--born in 1790 and died in Hamilton Co, Indiana. He came to Hamilton Co Indiana in 1818 with his wife, who name is unknown (but I think it was Miss Swift) and three children. My gggg grandfather Sidney was born to them in 1818, and then Mrs George Shirts died in 1819. George Shirts remarried to Miss Rebecca Finch in 1821 and remained in Noblesville, Indiana until his death in 1840.

It is said that he is the grandson of one of the Schertz brothers (of Michael Schertz) who came from Germany around 1710--namely, Andreas (Andrew) Valentin-David (David) or Jurgen (George.)--these are the brothers of that family who stayed in New York and whose descendants lived in Columbia County.

I have yet to establish the paternity for George, and I have yet to find the name of his first wife, who I believe was Miss Swift. If anyone can help, please let me know--
