PJ: 11/12/2003: Bemus Point: Stephen Feher, 84, of 3427 Route 430, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, in WCA Hospital.
He was born Oct. 24, 1919 in Szekesfehervar, Hungry.
He was a World War II veteran of the Hungarian Army, serving as a supply sergeant. He emigrated to Salzburg, Austria, in 1945, working for the U.S. Army 114th medical battalion, and later served with the 57th field hospital as a medical supply storeroom clerk and finished his six-year tenure working for the 9th station hospital as a surgical technician.
Along with his family, he emigrated to the United States of America in 1951, and was employed by Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, N.Y. In later years, he was employed by McKallor Drug Co. and was transferred to the Jamestown location in 1955, and retiring in 1981, from Ring and Pierce Producto Machine Co., where he had been employed for close to 20 years. He became a naturalized citizen in 1957.
He was instrumental in organizing the Jamestown Soccer Club in 1960, which participated in the Buffalo and district soccer league where he served as secretary and media representative for the club. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bemus Point, and its choir.
He was an opera and classical music enthusiast. He loved to sing and play violin. His favorite sport was soccer.
He is survived hy his wife, the former Hedwig Schroder, whom he married Oct. 8, 1946; a son, Gabriel Feher of Jamestown; two granddaughters: JoAnn Liffner and Heidi Feher, both of Jamestown; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Attila Feher, who died Oct. 8, 1978.
Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery.
PJ: 11/15/2003: A Mass of Christian Burial for Stephen Feher, 84, of 3427 Noute 430, Bemus Point, who died November 11, 2003, was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bemus Point. Rev. Robert Stolinski, parochial vicar of St. James Catholic Church, officiated. Readings were proclaimed and gifts were presented by Heidi Feher and JoAnn Liffner. Music was provided by Donna Gatz, organist and Heidi Feher, trumpeter. Burial was in Bemus Point Cemetry. Bearers were Leadlay Ogden, J. R. Liffner, Kent Young, Cliff Green, Gregg DeLong and John Erickson. A Christian Wake service was led by Rev. Stolinski Thursday afternoon in the Lind Funeral Home, Inc.
