PJ: 7/2/2000: LaVerne A. Webeck, 86, of 3706 Carmen Drive, Bemus Point, died at 10:55 p.m. Friday (June 30, 2000) in WCA Hospital.
He was born Oct. 4, 1913, in Jamestown, a son of Arthur C. and Eva A. Eckstrom Webeck.
Prior to retirement, he was employed by Carborundum Co. He previously was the chief of police for the former Falconer Police Department and was a police officer for the Jamestown Police Department.
He was a former member of the Jamestown City Council, a Falconer Rotary Club member and member of Christ First United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed woodworking and chair caning.
Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth J. "Liz" Webeck of Kenmore; two grandchildren: Richard E. Shively of Williamsville and Rebecca E. Shively of Kenmore; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Boys Webeck, whom he married July 22, 1936, and who died Aug. 2, 1995; a sister, Lillian Nelson; and two brothers: Edward H. and Ronald S. Webeck.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. the Rev. C. Gordon Bloomberg, visitation pastor of Christ First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
