Rachel Wells b. about 1839 in Port Byron, Cayuga Co., NY m. James Cudney of Sullivan Co., NY. Rachel died young and they had no children, She is buried in Popular Grove Cemetery, Phillipsgrove, Sullivan Co., NY. James remarried Elethere Gray in June 1870.

Ann Wells b. about 1845 in Port Byron, Cayuga Co., NY. Ann remained single and in her mother’s household through the 1880 census.
According to the 1894 Biographical Review of the Leading Citizens of Cayuga County Wells was of French Huguenut descent. It continues on to say that his “…father was an early settler in this country, taking part in the Indian warsâ€. This bio states CDA wells was one of the leading attorneys in the Cayuga Bar prior to his death in 1857.
In earlier records (marriage/census) he was known as Alanson Wells. At some point he became Count de Alanson Wells (CDA). His grandson (child of Richard and Maria J. Wells King) was identified as CDA King by one month of age.
