Will of Mary Ann Hogle Johnson 1819-1901

The last Will and testament of Mary Ann Johnson of the town of Springport, County of Cayuga and state of New York.
I Mary Ann Johnson aware of the uncertainty of life, do make, ordain, publish and declare this my last will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say:
After the payment of my funeral expenses, the expense of administering my estate, and my lawful debts, I give, devise and bequeath my property as follows:
1st I give to my son, James Johnson my largest trunk, my third best goose feather bed, all my bedding not otherwise bequeathed - all my towels, my striped rag carpet, my largest dark colored square wash stand with drawer, and one dark colored round corner bed stead with slats nailed together in two portions laying lengthwise in the stead.
2nd I give to my daughter, Sarah Maria West, 6 silver teaspoons, one ingrain parlor carpet, 12 dinner plates, 12 cups and saucers, one round glass sauce dish, and my second best square stand with drawer, in case of the death of Maria West, the 6 silver teaspoons bequeathed to her shall be given to my grand daughter, Nellie Wilson, and in case of her death, to my grand daughter Lucy Decker.
3rd. I give to my daughter Orcelia J. Burger, one looking glass in bracket frame with shelf and drawer, one picture of her Aunt Almina Johnson with frame, one spool stand with covered top, one large photograph album with leather skin sides, one light colored shelf and my extension table.
4th I give to my son Charles H. Johnson my second best goose feather bed, one pair of small pillows, one Bay mare now named "Jim," the bed stead I am now using and my large brass kettle.
5th I give to my daughter Emily Louisa Bonker my Oak Bed Room sett, consisting of one bed stead, one bureau, one wash stand, two chairs, one small rocking chair, 1 spring bed and mattress, my best white bed spread, all belonging to and now in use with the oak brd room sett, referred to above, also my old family bible containing our family records, two large white oval dishes, 6 white dinner plates, 6 white tea cups and saucers, 12 glass foot sauce dishes, 6 glass goblets, one toilet set complete, consisting of six pieces, one slot pail, 7 dark colored cane sett chairs.
6th I give to my daughter Emma Frances Brewster, 1 hen feather bed, 6 light colored cane sett chairs, one large splint bottom rocker, 6 white dinner plates, 8 tea plates, 6 tea cups and saucers, all my knives, forks and spoons not already bequeathed, one woven wire mattress, one excelsior mattress, one light colored wash stand with looking glass attached, one toilet sett consisting of five pieces, one bed lounge, one doz. glass sauce dishes, my second best white bed spread, one dozen glass salt setts, all my new rag carpet, 6 glass goblets and my table cloths, napkins, white towels and my cook stove.
7th I give to my son George W. Johnson, my best goose feather bed, my pair of largest pillows, and all the pillow cases that can be found with the same, my dark colored bed stead & spring mattress I am now using, my clock, all my kitchen chairs.
8th I give to my granddaughter, Nellie Wilson, the daughter of Sarah Maria West, herein named, one clock shelf made of butternut wood and the wood seat arm chair.
9th My real estate in the town of Springport Cayuga Co., NY consisting of sixty acres of land, with house, & barn thereon surrounded by lands of Albro Nichols, Mr. Pinckney, Esther Allen & George Waldron & Edgar Mosier and on which I now reside, I desire it to be worked on shares for four years from the date of my death by my son George W. Johnson herein mentioned, taxes & all necessary expenses for repairs of the fences, buildings and improvements of lands & ___ paid first from revenues of said land one half of the balance of said revenues to be retained by my son George W. Johnson and the remaining one half to be equally divided annually by the following named of my children, Sarah Maria West, Orcelia J. Burger, Charles H. Johnson, James Johnson, Emily Louisa Bonker, George W. Johnson, my daughter Emma Frances Brester not to receive any of the revenues from lands worked by my son George W. Johnson, as mentioned above on account of three acres of land I have already deeded to her.
10th After my death, I desire that my son James Johnson shall have his living from the proceeds of the farm now owned by me, during his natural life time, after his death, the said farm to be equally divided between Sarah West, Orcelia Burger, Chas. H. Johnson, Emily Louise Bonker, Emma Frances Brewster, George F. Johnson, "the share of James Johnson in otherwords" the one seventh part is to be given to the person that takes care of James Johnson during his lifetime and the balance divided among the above named equally, share and share alike, during the life time of James Johnson and after he is provided for, the balance of the revenue from the farm shall be used on improvements.
