Many of the microfilms of the 1892 NY State Census (and 1865) are now digitized and online at the LDS Family Search site, however there are no indexes available at this site. The Cattaraugus county volunteer team has completed transcribing the 1865 indexes (originally made by the Cattaraugus county Museum), and we have now completed many towns for 1892 (also originally made by the Museum). These indexes will help you find your ancestors in the LDS online NY state census records for Cattaraugus.

We are hoping more volunteers can join us to complete indexes for the rest of the towns for 1892. Please contact me at LGG(at)interaccess.com if you are available to retype surnames and census page numbers from the original typewritten index. Your help will be much appreciated.
