Searching http://www.fultonhistory.com/fulton.html for the exact phrase "Andrew W Davis" brought up the following page for an Andrew W Davis that died in 1936 (survived by wife, Bessie, so not sure it's the right person):

Binghamton NY Press Grayscale 1936 - 7688.pdf

Monday October 26, 1936
Andrew W. Davis of Binghamton R. D. 1 died at the Binghamton City hospital Saturday. He was a fruit and produce merchant for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Bessie J.: three daughters, Miss Andylee W Davis, Mrs. Minnie Wilcox and Mrs. Rajahla Thyer: two sons, Lynn A. and Donald A. Davis.

Searching Minnie Davis and Minerva Davis brought up lots of articles, but I didn't have time to narrow down the search
Thomas Myrick and Clarissa Dann were her GG Grandparents. We would be interested in knowing how you connect to the family. I have a lot of my data at:
http://www.my-ged.com/corbin/

Vic Corbin

But I couldn't bring up your web site. I'm also interested in Abraham Decker who was listed in the 1830 census of Greenfield with Benjamin Abbott Decker. Any idea who he might be or if he's related?

Beth Bentley

I am a cousin of Oliver's, and trying to verify his connection to my 3rd great grandfather.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but my Third Great Grandfather Oliver Clark Ferguson (b.1829) married a Lydia L. (b.1834) in 1855.

I don't know Lydia's maiden name, so it COULD be King.

There's not much on them prior to the 1880 Census, but Oliver was a farmer in Barker Twp, Broome County.

If you've found out more, I'd love for you to share. I'm stuck on Oliver & Lydia Ferguson.

Hi I am looking for any descendant of the Charles Thomas Lane family - Charles was born 1893 to John W Lane and Johanna Murphy of Middletown PA, married Florence in Broome County NY. Charles Lane and his relatives were pall bearers for my mother;s family, John Kinsley, his daughter Lizzie Kinsley Griffiths & her husband Jos A Griffiths in Broome Co. I have found pictures in my parents' house, and think some of them might be of Charles & Florence Lane, if Florence went by nickname "Nan". I would like to give these pics to interested descendants. Of course I would like to know more abt the Kinsley Lane connection. Some of these descendants might include Barbara J (Lane)Rhodes family, Elenor (lane) McCabe family. My mail is momla1956@yahoo.com

If you check further into Fulton Newspapers you will find articles on William H and his wife Elizabeth and sons. Also
Elizabeths obit and her family. William H went to Schenectady, NY

I had been trying to find more on William H in Schenectady to find a obit or death notice to see who his parents were. That would solve one of your mysterys.

Not even sure where he is buried yet. I am only 45 mins from Schenectady, near my old hometown, so if we find his burial place I can get pictures of his gravestone.

Thanks, I did have the 1850 census data for Charles and Mary.

I tracked Charles to 1920 in Great Bend but I have nothing on Mary after 1855. It appears Charles and his wife Cora never had any children.

I suspect the Barns' and Richardson's are related to the family somehow. Perhaps Emeline Barns and Ruhema Richardson are sisters of Amelia. Just a speculation.

Glad to help.

So this is where Charley E is in 1850.

: Garnsey Goodell
Age: 60
Birth Year: abt 1790
Birthplace: Connecticut
Home in 1850: Windsor, Broome, New York
Gender: Male
Garnsey Goodell 60
Diantha Goodell 60
Matilda Goodell 27
Charly E Goodell 4

Matilda could be Amelia.

Merrit was with the Barns family.

Could this be Mary? Same place Jackson, Susq,PA where Merritt was in 1880.

Mary A Goodell
Age: 7
Birth Year: abt 1843
Birthplace: New York
Home in 1850: Jackson, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania
Gender: Female
Family Number: 114
Household Members: Name Age
John E Richardson 30
Ruhema C Richardson 30
Mary A Goodell 7

AS for Willam H born 1863 and Ella born 1868, doesnt make sense does it. It even said William was his son in 1880 census. But then census are not always accurate.

Need to find some church records in Broome County or Susq Cty PA.

Well, I'd be confident in saying this is my Amelia. Looks like she found husband number 3. I just did a search on find-a-grave and found her buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Windsor. The stone says 1819-1897.

Maybe Merritt DID marry before, but.......

It's odd that in 1865 he's living with with his mother and there is no sign of a wife or children. Even odder is that Charles was born in 1863, before that census, and Ella was born in 1868, after the census.

There certainly was nothing traditional about this family! So many twists and turns! And so hard to find!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you've found. Thank you for taking the time to help.

I wonder if there are any death records to be had for Amelia so I might find her maiden name. I'm now fairly certain Merritt's father was Joseph A. Goodell as a foreclosure notice was found for Joseph and Amelia in Windsor in 1844. Joseph is probably the son of Garnsey and Diantha Goodell.

I did some searching for Amelia after 1865 in hopes of finding someone with her.
1880 I found "Amelia Cole, born 1820,livng in Windsor,Broome, with her husband Leonard Cole.

Living with them is a Granddaughter " Ella Goodell"

Think this is Amelia? If so, this Ella was born in Pennsylvania. As was William H. SO maybe Merrit did marry before and had 2 children.

I went through the 1865 census for Windsor and did not come across William.

It said nothing about Merritt being married or having a child, divorced, widowed or otherwise.

I suppose William could still be in Pennsylvania, where it said he was born.

I'm thinking they probably were in Windsor for the 1860 census since they were there in 1855 and 1865.

1870 they could be almost anywhere. I believe Merritt was married once before he married Ida. On the 1880 census he has a son, William H. born 1863 somewhere in Pennsylvania. Since Ida was born in 1852, she couldn't have been his mother.

Thanks again for your help.

In looking through the Revolutiionary War Records for Silas (1760), I found a sworn deposition of his for a pension listing on the third page the following:

“...family consists only of his wife (aged fifty-six years) and one son named Luman P. Seward (aged fourteen years) whose labor… The other children of the deponent consists of five daughters and one son & are married and settled in different places in the state of New York or Pennsylvania and are all in indigent circumstances and are unable to contribute anything to support this deponent and family…
Signed,Silas Seward
26Dec 1821

In 1821, Silas Seward(1813) would have been 8 years old. Silas does not declare him as a son.

According to Violet Seward Spaulding (1900- ), Silas (1813), who was her ggrandfather, was the son of Harry Seward.

Also, if Silas wife was alive in 1821, that would possibly rule out a death date of 1809 for Charlotte even though his wife's name is not given.
This is a long-unanswered question that has been discussed for quite some time. Some say Silas (1813-1896) Seward is the son of Harry M. (1793-) and Mary (Bunker) Seward and some say he is son of Silas (1760-1848) and Charlotte (Way) Seward.

I have had numerous discussions on the subject but still have no definitive answer (to my mind, at least), despite the DAR paper you reference. Whose DAR application was it?

According to my records, Harry Martin Seward married JULY 1813 Mary Bunker [I have no documentary source, unfortunately]. Silas Seward, Jr.' was reputedly born 13 MAY 1813 [about 2 mo. before Harry & Mary's marriage. The next sibling I have for Harry & Mary is daughter Margaret, b. ca. 1818, about 5 years after Silas, Jr's birthdate of 13 May 1813.

1820 US Census of Windsor, Broome Co., NY, p. 14:
Silas Seward: 1m 10-16, 1m 45+, 1f 45+, 1 person engaged in mfg.
Harry Seward: 1m 0-10, 1m 26-45, 2f 0-10, 1f 26-45, 1 person engaged in agriculture.
William McClure: 1 m 10-16, 2m 16-26, 1m 45+, 1f 10-16, 2f 16-26, 1f 45+, 3 persons engaged in agriculture.
William McClure: 1m 0-10, 1m 26-45, 1f 0-10, 1f 26-45.
Unis Farnham: 2m 0-10, 1m 10-16, 1m 16-18, 3m 16-26, 2f 10-16, 2f 16-26, 1f 45+, 3 persons engaged in agriculture.
William Walker: 1m 0-10, 1m 10-16, 1m 16-18, 1m 16-26, 1m 45+, 2f 0-10, 2f 10-16, 1f 16-26, 2 persons engaged in agriculture.
Henry Bunker: 1m 26-45, 1f 16-26, 1 person engaged in agriculture.

1830 US Census of Sanford, Broome Co., NY, p. 59
(Harry & Silas still neighbors):
Harry Seward: 3m 5-10, 1m 10-15, 1m 50-60, 2f 10-15, 1f 30-40, 1f 40-50

Neighbor of Silas Seward with Silas and Charlotte Seward living with him.

1840 US Census of Sanford, Broome Co., NY, p. 395:
H. NY.

This is all the info I have on the subject and I will leave you to determine who Silas, Jr's parents are. I carry Silas, Jr. as a son of Harry & Mary for the time being, indicdentally.

He's not in my wife's direct Seward line, so I can live with it. :-)

Regards & good luck,

John M.
I am looking for information on the family lines of:

Thomas Patrick Naughton b.abt 1820 Ireland
d. ?? 1900 ??
Mary Grady b.abt 1820 Ireland
d. ?? 1900 ??

No real sources, i.e. birth certificates or death certificats for either one. Thomas may have also had a first wife by the name of Ann and a daughter of Julia (with Ann).

James J Norton (Naughton) b. sometime between 1855 and 1862
(conflicting years) in Ireland
d: 20 Mar 1939 Binghamton, NY
Bridget O'Shea: b. abt 1863 Ireland
d. 9 May 1949 Binghamton, NY

James and Bridget married in 1883

James and Bridget had Mary (abt 1884-?), Anna (abt 1889-?),
Katherine (1891-1949), Delia A. (1892-1953), Matthew (abt 1895-?), maybe an unknown ( abt 1903) and then my Great grandmother Margaret Theresa. All of the children were born in New York.

Margaret Theresa b.3 Apr 1885 Binghamton, NY
d. June 1976 New Hartford, NY
Robert Emmet Dolan b.21 Dec 1885 Cortland, NY
d. 1953 Oneida County, NY
They married 3 Apr 1923

I know that the Dolan/Dillon familie has/had family in the Bingahamton and Cortland areas, before they moved to the Utica, Oneida, NY area. If anyone had any information that would be really appreciated.
I'll send them later

I also found the parents of Ralph including their marriage in 1911--I think that Ralph's father died before 1922 when his mother married Thomas Chubbuck. On the marriage license for Greda and Thomas in 1922 she states that this is her second marriage and her first husband has died.

Ralph had a sister-Elsa Hogdin [married Charles Letts]and also 2 half siblings-Margaret Chubbuck [married Edmund Bundy] and Melvin Chubbuck

Kathy

Edith is a distant ancestor of mine (2nd cousin 2x removed). I've just recently come across some family records that show that George Satchwell (1st husband of Madana) was killed in the Civil War on June 22, 1863. I don't have a date of birth for him but assuming he was about the same age as Mandana (born in 1829), he was likely to be around age 33-35 at death. I've just started looking at him so I'll update you if I find more info.
