Through a back door way I am attempting to find the maiden name of my great greatgrandmother (Elizabeth (?) Golden), her sister (Auntie Murray married a Bill Murray...a possible 2nd husband), and who their mother (Grandma Kurtin/Curtin) and father (no known name) were. With this information I am hoping to trace the family back to Ireland.
Auntie Murray had 2 known daughters, Emily L. and Rose. Emily, b. 1866 d. after the 1930 census; married John T. Lake b. 1864 d. after 1920 census(?); about 1890 in New York...Manhattan maybe. John T. was a policeman in New York City. Emily and John had 3 and possibly 4 children. First child (maybe) was Irving A. Lake b. 1891 in Manhattan and d. 1980. His birth certificate and Social Security Application states mothers maiden name as Paterson. Through the italiangen.org I was able to find and obtain a second childs death certificate...Reginald W. Lake b. 1901 and d.1918 at Fordham Hospital the Bronx, NY. His mothers maiden name is again listed as Paterson. He was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery...a phone call to them told me what section etc. Eventually, I hope to send for the interment record for $45.00 to help me identify who might also be buried in the gravesite. In the mean time I was hoping that someone might be able to help or direct me in the following manner;
1. Irving A. Lake owned a machine shop near the family home at 3342 Hull Ave...is the building (3340 still there and if so what is it now and is there a name of a business on the building?)
2. Does this section of the Bronx have a name/area designation?
3. Is there anyone working on or have knowledge of this particular Lake/Paterson family?
Lastly
4. Would someone be willing to take a picture of Reginald's gravestone at Woodlawn Cemetery; Plot Hillside, Sec. 42, Lot South East # 8712? Does anyone have a mail of this cemetery they would be willing to scan and email to me?
Thank you for your time and any suggestions offered.
