I have data found on the web of the 86th Infantry Regiment-Civil War-Steuben Rangers-is this what you are referring to?I was told that his death date was July 18, 1880 in Savona, NY. and that his claiment was Mary Jane Sanford and he was in Company D 161st N.Y. Infantry. W.C.-338-415 (I have no idea what these numbers mean and the data is different than what I had found) Mine was from the History Of Allegany County 1806-1879-History of the 86th Regiment where he & his brother-in-law are mentioned. Also, from Beers History, Allegany Co., Court House, Belmont, N.Y.I have the different spellings for our name but on my tree, there is no "d". Where did yoiu find the data? Do you think we have the same relative? This has taken many years to find what I have on his family, I even went to Michigan this summer.
