I am looking for information (with support) of William and/or Archibald Campbell, sons of Archibald Campbell - the Surveyor (DOD 1893). Both are listed as heirs of Archibald Campbell on the receipt of Land Bounty lands inherited in 1797. The land was sold in 1803 or shortly thereafter. William was less than 21 in 1803 and required the State Legislature to allow the sale. Archibald was born in 1778 (who's age in 1803 would be 25 if alive) and was not included in the request to the State Legislature. I can find no definite information on Archibald after 1797. Was he included (listed) in the 1803 sale, ie alive? There are several people named William Campbell between 1800 and 1820 (one is Major William Campbell which is not him). There is a grocer/dry goods seller, an Esq (lawyer?) and one with no listed profession. Starting around 1815 there is a William who becomes Surveyor General which is not him. Some think he moved to Canada, but I can not find any evidence of that.
