I am looking for some guidance in obtaining information about a possible divorce proceeding that took place in Albany in 1863.
I found a Legal Notice in the July 1863 Albany Argus newspaper that was by order of the Supreme Court. It sounded an awful lot like a divorce proceeding, requesting the presence of the husband before his wife, the plaintiff. Two years later, I find him in the 1865 NY Census as "D"ivorced, living in Schenectady with his sister.
I was hoping to confirm that this was in fact a divorce action and also to see if there is any more information available about what might have taken place. I don't know much about researching divorce situations so any help would be appreciated.
