I looked at four different Albany newspapers around his death date, but could not find any mention of a bar fight or even his name in the death notices.
It is possible that he did not live in or around the city of Albany, but was in a bar there and taken to an Albany hospital where he died. That would give his place of death as Albany, but any death notice or obit might be in the newspaper of the community he lived in. For instance right across the Hudson River is a whole different county - he could have live somewhere in Rensselaer area and walked across the bridge to drink.
