Barnabas HOWARD was born in Lansingburgh in Oct 1791. I know that is the year it became Rensselaer county. His parents were married before that and his sister was born 1789. Mother was Mary mnu (possibnly BOWMAN) and father was ??? HOWARD. Dad died by 1810? and nothing to show me his first name. By 1808 sister Rebecca was married in Canajoharie-I am assuming that they moved there, but maybe not.
What churches would be in the Lansingburgh area for the late 1780's to 1790's? Would I check in Albany county for wills or land records or would I check in Rensselaer county? Or should I check both? If the husband died, would the widow have gone to Orphans Court for help in raising the children?
Can someone help me wioth where to go for the records? Were there marriage bonds for the county in 1780's?
