I am looking for descendants of John Allen "Pete" Blakeney and Alevia Yarbrough.

Pete, son of Thomas H. Blakeney and Louiza Amelia Bingham, was born April 22, 1876 in Uvalde Co., TX and died 1951 in Eddy County, NM. He married Alevia Yarbrough on August 31, 1902 in Hope, Eddy Co., NM.

Alevia Yarbrough, daughter of Lorenzo Dow & Nancy Parilee (White) Yarbrough, was born on July 20, 1882 in McMullen County, Texas. Her obit says she was born in Uvalde County, TX. She died on May 13, 1962 in Artesia, Eddy Co., NM and was buried in the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, Eddy Co., NM.

They had the following children that I know of:

Twin Infants buried in Lower Hope/Badger Cemetery in Hope, NM on June 2, 1904

Bernice Blakeney that married a L. N. Seely

Inez Blakeny that married a Unknown Bursey and had a son named Floyd Bursey that lived in Hobbs, NM in 1962.

John Allen Blakeney, Jr. that married Rose Marie Briscoe. John died 1954 and is buried in the Carlsbad Municple Cemetery.

J. B. "Pud" Blakeney born April 2, 1912 in Hope, NM and died May 15, 1962 and was buried in Carlsbad Cemetery. He lived in Bell, California in 1962.

Unknown Blakeney that died before 1962.

Services Set Saturday for Mother, Son - dated May 15, 1962
Funeral services have been set for 2pm, Saturday at the Paulin Funeral Chapel for Mrs Levia Yarbrough Blakeney and her son, J.B. (Pud) Blakeney. The Rev. W. H. Wolfrum will officiate at the services and burial will be
in Carlsbad cemetery.

Mrs Blakeney died suddenly Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs L. N. Seely, 602 N. 14th. Her son was notified of her death and drove from his home in Bell, California to attend the funeral. He
arrived in Artesia about 10:30 last night and was taken to the Artesia General Hospital suffering from a heart attack at 4:30am today. He died approximately 30 minutes later.

Mrs Blakeney was born July 20 1882 at Uvalde, Texas. She was married to the late John Allen Blakeney, Aug 31, 1902 at Hope. They lived in the area since that time. He preceded her in death in 1951.

The couple had seven children, three of whom survive their mother.

J. B. (Pud) Blakeney was born at Hope, April 2, 1912, he was reared in the area and moved to California about 15 years ago.

Survivors include, Mrs Blakeney's two daughters, Mrs Bernice Seely, Artesia, and Mrs Inez Bursey of Blythe, California who had accompanied her brother to Artesia; her son Floyd of Hobbs; Mrs Blakeney's sister, Mrs Pearlea Brown of Moore, Texas; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.


I am a descendat of Alevia Yarbrough Blakeney's sister Nancy Pairlee Yarbrough Tilley Brown, mentioned in the obituary above. I am working on the descendants of their parents Lorenzo Dow Yarbrough and Nancy Parilee White.
