REYMUNDO ORTEGA GUTIERREZ, age 79, of Las Cruces passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 1, 1938 in Mesilla to Francisco and Soledad Ortega Gutierrez. Reymundo served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked as a Mechanical Technician at Lockheed Martin HELSTF and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Survivors include his companion of twenty-four years, Betty Clark; three sons, Reymundo Gutierrez (Brynda) of Henderson, NV, Christopher Gutierrez (Diane) and Ralph Gutierrez (Cynthia) all of Albuquerque; two daughters, Catherine Abuhilu (Ricardo) also of Albuquerque and Bobbie Clark (Michael Hogue) of Las Cruces; a brother, Tito Gutierrez (Lupe) of Tortugas; five sisters, Angela Moreno of Mesilla, Josephine Paul, Lupe Lujan and Clorinda Barela all of Las Cruces and Esperanza Morley of Alabama. Other survivors include twenty-six grandchildren twenty great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Reymundo was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Martin Gutierrez in 2017; two sisters, Belen and Pachita; two brothers, Ricardo and Gilbert and a daughter, Serina Clark in 2010. Visitation for Reymundo will begin at 11 AM Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Basilica de San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 11:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will follow immediately thereafter with the Reverend James Duplissey, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in San Albino Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Military Honors will be accorded by the New Mexico Army National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League El-Perro Diablo Detachment. Serving as casket bearers will be family and friends.
