CHRISTOPHER ROBERT NAJAR, age 35, resident of Las Cruces passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017. He was born April 3, 1982 in Carlsbad to Robert Randal and Lois DeAnn Mathis Najar. He married Denice Silva on May 20, 2012.
Christopher graduated with Honors from Arizona State University in 2004 where he minored in Business Management and majored in Business Finance. He was employed as the General Manager with CTD Entertainment as well as a commercial broker for Henry S. Miller. He was also a New Mexico Delegate in 2008. Christopher was a 2000 graduate from Las Cruces High School.
Christopher was a compassionate son, loyal brother, devoted husband and a loving father to his daughter Sofia Riley. He played competitive sports his whole life; he was a member of the 1993 AAU Junior Olympic Baseball Team. He also excelled at soccer where he played at Las Cruces High School and lettered for two years. Christopher loved music and concerts, he and his brothers attended dozens together around the country and even got lucky enough to ride on a tour bus with one of his favorite bands.
While attending ASU Christopher was one of 5 selected by the University for a Trip to Hawaii to sail the Islands, the trip was for excellence in ethics, and achievement.
One of his favorite routines was getting together with his two brothers, watching movies, playing classic rock and discussing history and everyday business. His biggest accomplishment in life was his daughter Sofia, she was his world and he was hers. Christopher will be missed and never forgotten by all those he touched.
Survivors include his wife, Denice Najar of the family home; his daughter, Sofia Riley; his parents, Robert and Lois; three brothers, Tommy Alexis Najar (Cindy) Dustan Najar, and Matthew Alba; his maternal grandmother, Lois Mathis and his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Maggie Najar; and his in-laws. Christopher was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donn Mack.
Visitation for Christopher will begin at 5 PM Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 6 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Monday, July 17, 2017 at St. Albert the Great Newman Center, 2615 S. Solano Drive with Reverend Alex Ureña officiating. At his request cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
Serving as casket bearers will be Tommy Najar, Dustan Najar, Matthew Alba, Matthew Mathis, William Mathis, Jersain Silva, Stephen Mathis and Eric Navarrette. Honorary bearers will be Tommy Navarrette, Trevor Mathis, Ryan Navarrette, Frank Saiz, Rex Lish, Ben Schmidt, Chris Pendleton, Jason Duttle, Matthew Nesbitt, Brandon Navarrette, Matthew Boyce, Rick Stoes, Francine Saiz, Kyle Schlotterbeck, Phillip Murrillo, Oise Silva, Lisa Valdez, and Stephanie Guthrie.
